Renaissance Honoured for Landmark Onshore Deal.

Abuja, Nigeria — February 4, 2026 — Renaissance Africa Energy Company was on Tuesday night named the winner of the Energy Deal of the Year for 2025 at the Awards Night of the ongoing Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja.

The award was in recognition of the historic $2.4 billion acquisition of Shell’s onshore assets in March 2025, a transaction widely regarded as one of the most consequential in Nigeria’s energy evolution.

The NIES awards committee noted the leadership of Renaissance in advancing local participation in upstream operations and reinforcing Nigeria’s strategic energy autonomy.

According to the award committee, for the first time in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, ownership, operational control, and strategic direction shifted decisively into Nigerian hands, reinforcing indigenous leadership and strengthening Nigeria’s energy sovereignty.

“Some transactions change balance sheets. This one changed history,” the committee noted in Renaissance’s citation at the ceremony

Receiving the award, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance, Mr. Tony Attah, said: “This recognition is deeply meaningful because it affirms a bold belief that Nigerians can build, operate, and lead world‑class energy enterprises at scale. The onshore asset acquisition from an international oil company was more than a transaction; it was a turning point for indigenous participation in our industry.

“I dedicate this honour to our exceptional workforce, our partners, and the communities we work with. Together, we are proving that Nigeria is not just a host to global energy but can be the driver, the innovator, and the standard‑bearer for Africa’s energy future.”

Renaissance’s recognition at NIES 2026 adds to a series of high‑profile industry awards the company secured in 2025 including the Energy Excellence Award at the Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week in July 2025.

In the same year, the company was named the Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the Year; while Attah received the individual category award of Local Content Icon of the Year at the Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.

Port Harcourt, Rivers State – August 24, 2025

Nigeria’s Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has become the third Nigerian company and the fourth in Africa to be welcomed into the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP). This was announced in London by IOGP, the global organisation of oil and gas companies and associations, that share best practices and data on health, safety, environment and operations.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the association, Mr. Graham Henley, said, “I am delighted to welcome Renaissance Africa Energy Company to IOGP.  Having worked in Nigeria some years ago, I understand both their challenges but also the tremendous expertise and insights that they have to share. I look forward to welcoming Renaissance Africa Energy Company to our committees and subcommittees soon.”

Speaking on Renaissance membership of the IOGP, the Managing Director and CEO of Renaissance, Mr. Tony Attah said, “We are very glad to have become a member company of the IOGP, barely 5 months since we completed the acquisition of Shell shares in the defunct Shell Petroleum Development Company. This is another milestone in our strategy to unleash a new beginning that enables energy security and industrialisation in a sustainable manner.”

Attah said, “Renaissance is poised to set a standard for the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and across the continent. And we are glad that we have such a credible collaboration in IOGP.”

Attah enjoined other stakeholders in Nigeria oil and gas industry to emulate the vision and courage of Renaissance and to be in sync with global standards as represented by IOGP.

Renaissance’s General Manager Safety and Environment and the company’s Representative to IOGP, Engineer Elozino Olaniyan, expressed excitement at the achievement.

Nigeria now Better Positioned to Attract Finance for Oil and Gas – Renaissance MD

… Renaissance wins NAPE 2025 Awards.

Lagos, Nigeria | August 14, 2025 – MANAGING Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, Mr. Tony Attah, has stated that Nigerian stakeholders in the oil and gas industry are now better positioned, than in the last five years, to optimise Nigeria’s vast hydrocarbon natural resources, due to changes that have been made by the Federal Government.

Attah made these comments in a panel discussion at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) in Lagos on Thursday, an event that climaxed with the bestowal of the Strategic Investment in Nigeria’s Energy Future award on Renaissance and Industry Icon Award on Chairman, Renaissance, Dr. Layi Fatona.

Lauding key policies of the Federal Government, Attah, represented by Renaissance’s Executive Vice President Finance, Mr. Olusegun Banwo, said, “Today, several things have lined up well for our industry. Over the last 50 years, we have built a critical mass of extremely talented Nigerians across all levels of the oil and gas industry. That is a great thing to have happened to us. How we now leverage that talent to move this country forward is in our hands.”

He said, “Also, we have the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGIG) Act; the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and, probably, most importantly, the NNPC Limited, because the changes that have occurred in NNPC are things that many of us could never have dreamt of. But they are here. We have a board that is populated by extremely competent and experienced people. We have a management that comes from the international oil companies, they are highly experienced, and they are willing to partner. So, all of those are lined up.

“The challenge before the industry today,” Attah asserts, “is to make sure that the organisations playing in the industry can stand very critical scrutiny of their management and their boards. That we have shareholders that are there to ‘grow the pie’; that we have boards of directors that are competent and credible and independent, able to take independent decisions; and, above all, management that, as individuals, are going to lead by competence and character.”

These, he said, will define the next decades of the oil and gas industry.

According to Attah, with all the unfolding changes in the industry, attracting finance would not be a challenge. “When people give money to an organisations, it is not really the asset that they are financing. It is the people that they are giving the money to. Before a financial institution will lend out money, it is going to take a very critical look at the management and the board of the organisation. Let us ensure that our organisations can stand that scrutiny.”

Attah enjoined other stakeholders in Nigeria oil and gas industry to emulate the vision and courage of Renaissance which completed, in March 2025, the purchase of all the shares of the Shell Petroleum Development Company.

Speaking on his company’s vision, Attah said Renaissance was more than just a name. Ours is Renaissance for people, for country and for Africa to unleash a new beginning that enables energy security and industrialisation in a sustainable manner.” He said Renaissance was poised to set a standard for the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and across the continent.

NAPE President, Mr. Johnbosco Uche, said Renaissance won the Strategic Investment in Nigeria’s Energy Future award because its capital projects and investments have significantly shaped the national energy landscape.
